All Stages
Welcome to our step-by-step guide to the screw pile installation process. On this page, we’ll walk you through everything you need to know — from your initial enquiry, right through to the final installation. Whether you're a homeowner, contractor, or developer, we’ll explain each stage clearly so you can understand how screw piles work and what to expect along the way. Our aim is to make the process as smooth and straightforward as possible, giving you confidence in choosing ABC Anchors for your foundation needs.
1
Great Choice!
We’re delighted you’ve chosen screw piles for your project. They’re a reliable, sustainable, and efficient alternative to traditional concrete foundations, offering quicker installation times and minimal ground disturbance. You're off to a great start!
2
Appoint a Structural Engineer
The next step is to appoint a structural engineer. Their role is to assess your building plans and calculate the expected loadings. Based on this information, they will determine the type, size, and number of screw piles required to safely support your structure. If you're looking for a trusted professional, we’ve worked closely with Michael Aubrey Structural Engineers on multiple projects and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them. They have extensive experience working with screw pile foundations and can help guide your project from the outset.
3
Consider a Test Screw Pile
We strongly recommend installing a test screw pile at your site before committing to a full order. This will help assess the soil conditions and confirm the pile performance, giving you a better idea of what’s required. While no method can guarantee exact ground conditions throughout a site, testing gives valuable insight and helps provide a more accurate costing for your foundations.
4
Decide on the Installation Method
You now have a couple of options when it comes to installing your screw piles. If your contractor is happy to install them, they can hire the necessary equipment from us – we offer both excavator-mounted and handheld torque heads depending on your site access and conditions. If you prefer, we can also recommend screw pile installers to carry out the work for you.
5
Obtain a Quotation
Once your structural engineer has finalised the specifications, you can share the details with us. We will then provide a tailored quotation based on the engineer’s requirements. Alternatively, if you have a Soil Investigation Report and Pile Loading data, we can quote from that. Either way, we’ll make sure your quote reflects the actual needs of your site as accurately as possible.
6
Place Your Order
Once everything is in place, it’s time to place your order for the screw piles and, if required, the installation equipment. We’ll prepare everything for delivery and coordinate with you or your contractor to ensure the process runs smoothly.
7
Delivery to Site
We will deliver all materials and equipment directly to your site, ready for installation. Our team will work with you to ensure everything arrives on time and in the correct sequence, helping to keep your project on schedule.
8
Installation & Equipment Collection
Once the screw piles are installed, we’ll arrange for the collection of any hired equipment. If you’re using our recommended installers, they’ll manage this process for you. Our goal is to make installation as straightforward and hassle-free as possible.
9
Ready to Build!
With your screw pile foundation securely in place, you’re now ready to start building from the ground up. You’ve chosen a solid, future-proof base – and we’re proud to have supported your project from the very beginning.
